Chikankari
Chikankari is Lucknow's own embroidery tradition, known for delicate, airy work in which the stitches seem to float on the fabric. It traditionally favours light, breathable cloth and soft, tone-on-tone thread, so the finished piece feels cool and refined rather than heavy.

About Chikankari
Every Chikankari piece at Meru House is hand-embroidered. The collection includes long kurtis, short kurtis and co-ord sets in a range of fabrics: soft cotton for everyday wear, Chanderi and Chanderi resham for a gentle sheen, dobby cotton with its fine woven texture, voile cotton, and sheer, lightweight muslin.
These pieces make up our Nawabi Summer collection, named for the refined dressing of old Lucknow. The palette is soft and summery, with lavender, lemon, mauve, pink, purple and teal among the shades.
Chikankari is made for warm days and long afternoons. Wear a long kurti with straight pants for work, or a co-ord set for lunches and family gatherings. The fabric and sizes are listed on each product page.
